There wasn’t anyone lower than Ivan the orphan at Belgorod Holding. He took care of the dogs, sleeping with them in the kennel. They were savage beasts, but Ivan loved them and strangely, the hounds loved him back.
One day, a strange, silver-haired knight arrived with a band of brutal henchmen and a letter from the king. The knight hired local famers, heading into the Old Forest to search for treasure.
The knight was evil, the search a trick, with the farmers living sacrifices for a wicked guardian of an ancient, hidden crypt. The knight sought unholy weapons, and he would destroy everyone at Belgorod Holding to get them.
What no one counted on was the humble dog boy and his hounds, and what would happen when Ivan picked up the dreaded Dragon Horn, sounding it for the first time in centuries.
Could Ivan learn to wield the wild magic in time to save his friends and home, and stop an ancient plot from unfolding?

I found Dragon Horn after read another title by Mr. Heppner (Death Knight)and although the story starts a bit slow it's worth the wait to see the full arch of this tale. The land of Elban and several of the beasts from Dragon Horn were mentioned in Death Knight, but this story takes a different path and weaves it's way to a fascinating conclusion. After reading over a dozen of Mr. Heppner's books now, he has become one of my very favorite authors! This story leads you on a journey of self discovery for the main character and has a great supporting cast. Read on brave souls...Heppner has created another masterful work! If you like this book, consider reading Death Knight, The Lost Civilizations (Books 1-3) and of course The EPIC... Doomstar Series with Marten Kluge. Heppner Rocks!Product details

The Dragon Horn eBook Vaughn Heppner Reviews
I very much enjoyed this book and immediately bought another one by the same author. The characters were fascinating, and made me want to know more about their lives after these adventures. I seriously hope that Mr. Heppner will return to this tale, and continue their stories. There's so much more to tell about their future lives! Kudos sir, and I'll be watching for the next installment. Don't let us down. )
Enjoyed the growth and detail in the characters. Ready made for more Action in this setting. Thanks for a good read.
At first I wasn't keen on the start because the style seemed a bit juvenile (references to "brute"), but it got better, although it took quite a while before we found out how Alaric was the link to the past. The other fault with the text is the need for grammatical editing.
Overall, aside from the beginning and the grammar errors it was a good story and made you curious to know what else will happen.
I bought The Dragon Horn because I have really enjoyed the other books I have read from Heppner, and this one did not disappoint. It was a quick read, put I truly enjoyed the cast of characters and plot line. I don't know if I read the Alternate Europe books out of order, but I plan on reading them all. In fact, I am reading Dark Crusade right now. Overall, a very good book by one of my favorite authors.
I have this 5 stars because I never wanted to put it down the entire time. I felt connected to multiple characters and truly enjoyed seeing them grow.
Nice story. It follows the young adult genre. I liked Ivan's character very much as I did the two sons of the king. The best part of the book was the Villains. Mr.Heppner has created a Villain that held my interest more then the hero's of the story.I have found that in this genre if the villain is fleshed out and gave his place in the story that it makes for a more interesting novel. This novel accomplishes this in good fashion. The story does drag here and there but over all a good easy read.
I found it entertaining. Heppner is a good story teller who develops his characters well. Like several of his other "one off" novels I'd like to read more. I'm hoping he'll come back to this line and expand their world.
