Sorry but I just could not get into this story. It appears to be a very modern female who breaks up with her boyfriend because he plans to be a missionary but wants her to go with him. Then she wakes up in another time and as I clicked various chapters, it appears that she is in different places in different time(s).
I guess she is suppose to be learning to do what God wants her to --

Derinda Babcock is a new author to me, but Dodging Destiny won't be the last novel of hers I'll read! I highly recommend this fun story with its important spiritual message (that God's plans may not be what we initially want, but He knows what's best for us) to all.
Dodging Destiny is an excellent time travel romance. To travel back to wagon trains and sod houses has opened the eyes of Lexie to what is important in life and her faith. When she is finally able to return to her original time what will her reactions be? The realistic settings make it an interesting and enjoyable book. I look forward to reading more of Derinda Babcock's works.

When I read this story, it reminds me that God has a path already planned for me, but sometimes I interfere with those plans. I decide that my way is better, which leads to unhappiness, failures, and problems. Just like Lexie, fear has kept me from taking risks. That’s when I have to go back to the Scriptures and reestablish my faith and trust in Him. Lexie reminds me of myself, even though I am much older than she.
Lexie was my favorite character, because she reminds me of my children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. They all struggle with fears, doubts, and worthiness.
The ending left me wanting more. I want to know what happened to the people Lexie left behind, and what happened to her when she returned to the twenty-first century.
I highly recommend this story. I see the next book in the trilogy is out, and I intend to read it. I will read everything this author wriites.
Kudos to Ms. Derinda Babcock!! This story held me captive from the first page!!! I usually don't read time travel books, but this was an example of Jonah and his refusal to obey God's command. Because Lexie had disobeyed what she was called to do she was transported back to before The Civil War. The characters and times were depicted so well that I felt like I was there with them!!. I loved the book!!!
I don't believe in literal time travel and I was a little hesitant to read this book although I do enjoy time travel in just fiction. I was more than pleasantly surprised to find the sole purpose of this story was to remind us of God's love and the rewards of obedience to his will for our lives,and not our own. The book is full of scripture and the author's explanations and interpretations of them in her story are beautiful! I look forward to the next book in this series and will recommend them highly.
